Three independent Norwegian tall ship operations have enlisted the help of Carus to chart their future course. The historic vessel operators all concluded that Carus offered the most forward looking solution and have placed firm orders for CarRes, the world leading booking and ticketing solution.
The three Norwegian operators Christian Radich, Statsraad Lehmkuhl and Sørlandet all concluded that Carus offered the best solution to replace their old ticketing and booking systems. The common need for a constantly evolving web enabled solution that would protect their investment and could also be scaled to meet their constrained budgets, made it a logical choice for them to cooperate on a joint project to implement CarRes.
Although the operators have cooperated quite a lot in certain areas, they have always gone their own ways when it has come to choosing systems in the past, but after having visited the Carus customer Fjord Line and seen how functionally rich and flexible CarRes is, the colleagues at Statsraad Lehmkuhl, Christian Radich and Sorlandet decided to make a joint decision. They all realised they had the same concerns about their current systems, namely how difficult it is to integrate legacy systems with the web and also the question of long term support and development from each of the existing system suppliers.
Another factor in the choice of Carus was their proven quality and flexibility coupled with their long and extensive experience of working with both the maritime industry and fellow Norwegian operators.
“Although this is a cooperative project, each operator is being implemented as a separate company within our Managed Service environment in Mariehamn”, says Anders Rundberg, CEO at Carus. “The cost benefits have come from synergies in the installation and training phases and joint funding of the minor developments that were required.”
The new booking solution gives the three operators the opportunity to easily sell any products and services they may want to combine with their cruises which include long oceanic cruises, school cruises, day cruises and special charter trips.
CarRes has already been installed and is in use at both Statsraad Lehmkuhl and Christian Radich. Sørlandet will take the system into operation during the autumn of this year as the vessel is currently out of service for scheduled maintenance.
