Fjord Line will be one of the first Norwegian ferry operator to connect to the Norwegian Ministry of Trades travel portal, Visit Norway, using the CarRes interface.
Thanks to the existing interface that the reservation system from Carus already has to the Citybreak destination booking platform, Fjord Line will be able to market and sell their ferry services through the Visit Norway web site. “This is one of the big advantages by using a truly standardized booking system that already has many interfaces available”, says Linda Selle, IT Manager at Fjord Line.
When the Norwegian Ministry of Trade and Industry decided to enhance the official travel guide to Norway on www.visitnorway.com with booking facilities, Fjord Line will be among the first ferry companies to be represented. Implementation of this integration has been easy due to the fact that they are the only Norwegian operator with a system that already had the technical infrastructure ready to implement such an integration.
The booking platform Citybreak from Visit Technology will be used for dynamic packaging of all types of travel products in Norway to form a one-stop-shop for your northern holiday. You will be able to book Fjord Line’s ferry services, and later other Norwegian ferry operators, in combination with accommodation and other holiday elements using this destination platform.
Other ferry operators in Denmark, Sweden and Finland using CarRes are already integrated to destination booking platforms using Citybreak. CarRes is a ferry reservation solution provided by the Finnish IT provider Carus PBS. Citybreak is provided by the Swedish travel IT provider Visit Technology Group.
