Cape Cods leading whale watch operator selects Carus as technology partner

With a new season fast approaching Steve Milliken knew he had to find a solution to his growing need to manage his booking process both in-house and via the web. Having seen fellow Cape Cod operator Hyline successfully implement the CarRes system he had no hesitation in contacting Carus and, just weeks later, signing up for a Managed Service deployment from their US based Data Centre.

“I visited Hyline and saw how well the system worked for them and figured, despite the differences in our operations, if it does a good job for them then it will work just as well for me” states founder and CEO Steve. “I need a solution that is flexible and will offer me opportunities to grow my business and with its diverse user community, CarRes certainly gives me that.”

The implementation will be completed during January and will include the new fast ticketing module (t-PoS) along with a self-service kiosk for Ticket Sales and Check-In. The system itself will run on Carus owned hardware from their data centre provided by Peak10 in Atlanta with only the local PC’s and infrastructure having to be procured by the client.

In 1975 the Dolphin Fleet started whale watching out of Provincetown, Massachusetts with the hope of bringing an understanding and awareness to the public about whales and their environment. We ventured out on educational trips with scientists to study whales as well as educate the public about marine mammals and their habitat. The first trips were a great success!

Each Dolphin Fleet vessel is specifically designed for whale watching and comfort. There is a sundeck on the second level and a walk out platform for viewing on the bow. There are no open rails on the boat, so you’re in the boat, not on it, with ample seating on both upper and lower decks. We limit the number of passengers we carry in an earnest attempt to make each trip satisfying and comfortable. Our vessels are clean and our restrooms are spotless.

Dolphin Fleet adheres to NOAA Northeast whale watching guidelines and is an active participant to the whale sense program.
