Since 2012, Carus has proudly presented the Carus Excellence Awards to honor exceptional individuals in the maritime sector—both Spanish and international. The annual ceremony is held in conjunction with ANAVE’s General Assembly, of which Carus is an Associate Member and Sponsor. The award celebrates excellence, leadership, and dedication in maritime transport, recognizing those who have made a significant and lasting impact on the industry.

2025 Carus Excellence Award Ceremony

The 2025 General Assembly of ANAVE will take place on June 19 at the Wellington Hotel in Madrid. The event will include a cocktail reception and gala lunch, attended by Spanish shipowners, maritime and port authorities, and international maritime delegates. The Spanish Minister of Transport will deliver the keynote address at the luncheon. Carus is a proud co-sponsor of this distinguished annual gathering.

About Captain Gianluigi Aponte

Captain Gianluigi Aponte is the Founder and Group Chairman of MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company SA. Born in Sorrento, Italy, he began his maritime career operating passenger ferries for his family’s business after graduating from the Italian Maritime Academy.

After a brief career in banking, Captain Aponte returned to the shipping industry in 1970 to establish MSC with a single vessel. Guided by the principle, “Where the customer goes, MSC goes,” he has grown the company into one of the world’s largest container shipping lines. Throughout MSC’s expansion, Captain Aponte has remained committed to the company’s core family values and its people.

Desde 2012, Carus se enorgullece en presentar los Excellence Award para reconocer a personas excepcionales en el sector marítimo, tanto español como internacional. La ceremonia anual se celebra en conjunto con la Asamblea General de ANAVE, de la que Carus es Miembro Asociado y Patrocinador. Carus Excellence Award 2025

La Asamblea General de ANAVE 2025 se celebrará el 19 de junio en el Hotel Wellington de Madrid. El evento incluirá un cóctel y una comida de gala, a la que asistirán armadores españoles, autoridades marítimas y portuarias, y delegados marítimos internacionales. El Ministro de Transportes español pronunciará el discurso inaugural en la comida. Carus se enorgullece de ser uno de los patrocinadores de esta distinguida reunión anual.

Capitán Gianluigi Aponte

El capitán Gianluigi Aponte es el fundador y presidente del Grupo MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A.

Nacido en Sorrento, Italia, el Sr. Aponte comenzó su carrera como capitán operando transbordadores de pasajeros en el Mediterráneo para el negocio de su familia después de graduarse en la Academia Marítima Italiana.

En 1970, tras una pausa en el mundo del transporte marítimo para dedicarse a la banca durante varios años, el capitán Aponte volvió al sector para poner en marcha su propia empresa, MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company. Inspirado por su visión de que “donde va el cliente, va MSC”, el capitán Aponte ha hecho crecer a MSC desde la operativa con un solo buque hasta convertirse en una de las líneas de transporte marítimo de contenedores más grandes del mundo, sin dejar de ser fiel a los valores fundamentales de su familia de cuidar a los empleados y los clientes.
